Student Assessments

Measure where each student stands, track skill development over time, and keep parents informed with shared progress reports.

Why Assessments Matter

Assessments turn tutoring from a series of sessions into a measurable program:

  • Establish a baseline when a student enrolls
  • Identify the specific skills that need work
  • Demonstrate progress to parents with evidence, not anecdotes
  • Help tutors plan sessions around documented gaps

TUITIONsimple includes built-in assessment tools, and a dedicated assessor role for staff who run evaluations.

Creating an Assessment

To set up a new assessment:

  • Open the Assessments section and start a new assessment
  • Choose the subject or skill area being evaluated
  • Define the skills or criteria to score
  • Set the scoring approach so results are consistent across assessors

Reuse the same assessment for intake and follow-up evaluations so results are directly comparable over time.

Recording Results

When a student completes an assessment:

  • The assessor or tutor enters scores for each skill or criterion
  • Add written observations to give scores context
  • Results attach to the student record alongside session history
  • Role-based access controls who can enter and edit results - admins, tutors, and assessors each have appropriate permissions

Session Notes Build the Progress Picture

Between formal assessments, session notes keep the record current:

  • Tutors enter notes after each session
  • Notes can cover material taught, homework assigned, and observations
  • Tutors choose which notes to share with parents
  • Notes plus assessment results give a continuous view of subject progress

Tracking Progress Over Time

Repeat assessments at regular intervals to make growth visible:

  • Compare results from intake to the most recent evaluation
  • Track skill development and milestone completion per student
  • Review attendance history alongside results - consistency drives outcomes
  • Use progress data in re-enrollment conversations with parents

Sharing Results with Parents

Progress visibility is built into the parent portal:

  • Publish assessment results and milestones to the portal
  • Parents see shared session notes after each session
  • Subject progress and attendance history are visible anytime
  • No extra emails or printed reports required

See the Parent Portal guide for the full parent-side experience.
